Public health professionals and volunteers will be recognized for their significant contributions to the health and safety of their communities.
Nominees and award winners were selected by New Jersey Local Boards of Health Association in conjunction with the New Jersey Association of City and County Health Officials, New Jersey Association of Public Health Nurse Administrators, New Jersey Environmental Health Association, New Jersey Society of Public Health Educators, and New Jersey Public Health Association.
The following individuals have been nominated and selected to receive various awards:
Local Board of Health Member of the Year (Christopher Saccenti Award.) This award will go to a member of an NJLBHA affiliated Local Board of Health member who has given exceptional service to his or her community in protecting public health.
Winner: Lisa DeRosa, President Chatham Borough BOH
Recognition: Kim Silverstein, Past Chair, Manalapan Township BOH
Victoria Frazier, BOH member, Winslow Twp.
Health Officer of the Year. This award will go to the Health Officer who most exemplifies public health leadership and who, working with their local board(s) of health, reaches out to the community and develops innovative programs.
Winner: David A. Henry, Health Officer, C.O.O. & Secretary, Monmouth County Regional Health Commission, serving 21 counties.
Recognition: Kevin G. Sumner, Health Officer &Director Middle-Brook Reginal Health Commission, Warren Twp.
Peter N. Tabbot, Health Officer Rockaway Twp. Health Department
Paschal Nwako, Health Officer, Camden County
Health Educator of the Year. This award will go to a Public Health Educator who has created innovative education and training programs for the community.
Winner: Patricia Hearey, Health Education Unit Supervisor, Camden County.
Registered Environmental Health Specialist of the Year. This award will go to Registered Environmental Health Specialist whose performance is and interaction with the community is outstanding.
Winner: George Kornias, Rahway Union County
Public Health Nurse of the Year. This award will go to a Public Health Nurse who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the community. This selection will be made in conjunction with the NJAPHNA
Winner: Jeryl Krautle, Monmouth County Health Department
Recognition: Marlene Dolan, Serving Madison, Chatham, Borough, Chatham Twp & Springfield.
Shereen Naqvi, Monmouth Regional Health Commission, serving 21 counties.
Nancy Mackay, South Brunswick, retired.
Meritorious Service Award will go to a person who has rendered exceptional service to the New Jersey Local Boards of Health Association or to the community.
Winner: Rochelle Williams-Evans, East Orange Dir DOH & HO, retired
The $45.00 per person cost for this event will include dinner and soft drinks. There will be no charge for those receiving awards and special recognition. Please share this information with your boards of health and communities.
